Coach Mee Praises Futsal Team for Dominating Kuwait, Admits Surprising Performance
Coach Raksaphon Sai Nettngam, head coach of the Thai men's futsal team, praised his players for effectively controlling the situation in their dominant game against Kuwait. He acknowledged the somewhat surprising scoreline in the Asian Championship.
The Thai futsal team performed exceptionally well in the 2026 Asian Championship final round, Group B match, defeating Kuwait 6-1 and securing a perfect 6 points. They have now definitively advanced to the final 8 teams.
After the match, Coach Mee stated, "I'm truly proud of all my players. Today, they displayed their potential and performed quite well. I must commend and give credit to all the athletes who united in their play. Before the game, there was considerable pressure because we needed three points. But all the kids started to mature on the field, controlling the game and playing extremely well."
He added, "The first match was about adapting to the field conditions and the ball. During our meeting, I told the athletes not to think about the field or the ball, but to focus solely on our game. We needed to adjust some attitudes, and they deserve credit for following the plan and playing together, which resulted in a quite surprising outcome."
Looking ahead, he emphasized, "The next game is about ASEAN pride. We must play to our full potential. We'll rotate to give everyone playing time. Whether we finish first or second and face another group, every team will be tough. But I can confirm we will give our all with our team's dignity."
Player Sarawut Phlapruek also commented, "I'm happy to have scored a goal in the Asian Championship. Everyone is moving in a positive direction. I'm grateful to my teammates for setting me up. The goal was intentional, and I was lucky it went well. While I'm satisfied with the game, we conceded a goal we'd prefer not to have. We'll review and improve for our next match against Vietnam."
The team's next match in the 2026 Asian Championship Group B stage will be against Vietnam at the Indonesia Arena on January 31st at 3:00 PM, with live streaming available on YouTube: BG Sports.
